"My company is talking about setting up a wiki. What is a wiki and why would a company want to have one?"
Catherine J. - Long Island, NY
Hi Catherine,
Wiki means quick or rapid in the Hawaiian language. It has been adapted to the Web to mean software that enables a collection of Web pages to be created, edited and linked by a select group of people.
Businesses use wikis to enhance collaboration. Wikis are used as intranets allowing employees to store and share information with their colleagues. Anyone can edit information quickly without having to know HTML, hence the term wiki.
Hope this helps!
