"Hi Molly. What should I look for when upgrading my company’s IP communications?"

Wheatley M. - Oxford, MS

Hi Wheatley,

I would look for an open standards solution.

Proprietary products are more expensive to support, especially if you don’t already have that particular product in place. Make sure the vendors you consider have a road map and will be adding features in their product upgrades that you believe your company will need in the future. Only consider solutions that provide a return on investment that you feel comfortable with.

Some businesses are outsourcing some elements of their communications such as contact centers and network management services if they cannot get an adequate ROI.

Good luck!
